Marital and Couples Therapy

Couples therapy addresses the concerns and needs of individuals in the context of their relationship with each other.

I help couples who are struggling with escalating, repetitive, or stuck conflicts, lack of emotional closeness, wounds of betrayal, communication issues, power struggles, and sexual difficulties. Couples therapy focuses on finding new ways to understand and communicate with each other and to improve and/or restore health and enjoyment in the relationship. I see patients who are just starting relationships as well as couples who have been together many years.

During the couples therapy, I will listen, evaluate the areas of difficulty, and actively give feedback to improve communication skills, deepen understanding, and resolve conflicts. Areas of strength in the relationship will also be discussed, as they are often overlooked and can be useful in rebuilding connections and repairing wounds. With a renewed perspective, understanding, and skills couples experience a stronger companionship, vitality, and chemistry.

My work with couples draws from concepts and techniques that form the basis of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), Imago Relationship Therapy, and The Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
